10 October - Independence Day in Cuba
The Manifesto of the Revolutionary Junta of the Island of Cuba, known as Manifesto of October 10, 1868, was a document written by Carlos Manuel de Céspedes (1819-1874), the father of the Cuban homeland. It was made public on October 10, 1868 in his estate La Demajagua during what was known as the Grito de Yara, which started the Ten Years War for the independence of what was then Cuba.
The objectives pursued by the Cuban revolutionaries and which led them to take the step of taking up arms against the Spanish colonial metropolis, he gathered a group of committed people, gave freedom to his slaves and read his proclamation of independence. He thus wrote the first page of the history of Cuban independence.
