Chavang Kut is celebrated on the 1st of November to honor the blessings of the deity for a good harvest every year. It also marks the end of the harvesting season. Roughly translated, 'Chavang' means 'autumn' and Kut means 'harvest'.
The Kut Festival is an Autumn festival of the different tribes of Kuki-Chin-Mizo groups of people in Manipur. The festival has been described among other tribes, such as Chavang-Kut or Khodou. It is a happy occasion for the villagers whose food stock is plentiful after a year of tremendous hard labor.
