Lobster Day in USA
Lobster Day in USA is held on June 15. This event in the second decade of the month June is annual. Help us
Lobsters can live as long as 100 years. They have indeterminate growth, which means they continually increase in size as they age, with maximum sizes unknown. Lobster don’t scream when you cook them – they don’t have lungs or vocal cords.
Lobsters also make sounds to scare or warn prey away by vibrating their exterior carapace. Lobsters were once considered poor man’s food. In Colonial times the crustaceans were so plentiful in the northeast that they were often used as fertilizer, feed for farm animals, and as fishing bait. Because they were so cheap, they were only eaten by poor people and served to prisoners and servants.
