Big Wind Day
Big Wind Day is held on April 12. On April 12, 1934, the staff of the Mount Washington Observatory recorded the highest surface wind ever measured, anywhere on earth. This big wind was officially recorded at 231 miles per hour. This event in the second decade of the month April is annual.

Wind is the flow of gases, here on Earth it refers to the movement of air. It is caused by differences in air pressure. Short bursts of wind moving at high speeds are known as gusts. Depending on their strength, winds can be known as a breeze, gale, storm or hurricane.
Wind causes the generation of sound. The movement of air causes movements of parts of natural objects, such as leaves or grass. These objects will produce sound if they touch each other. Even a soft wind will cause a low level of environmental noise.
Wind energy is a source of renewable energy. It does not contaminate, it is inexhaustible and reduces the use of fossil fuels, which are the origin of greenhouse gasses that cause global warming.
