Suits are a time-honored convention of menswear. Short of jackhammers and beer, they’re the ultimate expression of masculinity and simply have the ability to make every man look dapper and suave. Once upon a time in ancient Persia, merchants were like today’s executives and had to be the best-dressed to symbolize their affluence and wealth. Fashion has come a long way – today we have the power suit.
In honor of Barney Stinson' love for suits, it was announced by fans on October 13th, 2010, that October 13th of every year, is International Suit Up Day. More than 700,000 people worldwide committed to wear suits on that day on Facebook. Barnabus Stinson is a fictional character portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris and created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas for the CBS television series How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014).
