What was Brutus famous for? Brutus was one of the leaders of the conspiracy that assassinated Julius Caesar. Long optimistic about Caesar's plans, Brutus was shocked when, early in 44, Caesar made himself perpetual dictator and was deified.
After being adopted by a relative, he used the name Quintus Servilius Caepio Brutus, which was retained as his legal name. Early in his political career, Brutus opposed Pompey, who was responsible for Brutus' father's death. He also was close to Caesar.
Betrayal goes beyond feeling hurt, upset and subsequently angry – it causes further damage: It reduces our ability to trust others in the future. Significant betrayal in our intimate relationships may take a long time to heal from if we're willing to let the relationship continue.
