24 May - Feast of Slavic illuminators in Macedonia
In North Macedonia, the Day of St. Cyril and Methodius is celebrated. Schools and other institutions celebrated this day as the Day of the Slavic Enlighteners even before it was declared a public holiday. Bulgaria and North Macedonia recently started celebrating this date together.
In North Macedonia, the official names of the holiday are the Day of the All-Slavic Enlighteners and Teachers or the Day of the Holy Thessalonica Brothers Cyril and Methodius.
In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the Day of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles brothers Cyril and Methodius (the holiday of Slavic writing) is celebrated on July 5 - the day they came to Moravia. Churches hold solemn services. This is the only state-church holiday in these countries.
