Semana Farroupilha is a festive event of the Gaucho Culture, which is celebrated from September 13 to 20 with parades in honor of leaders of the Farroupilha Revolution. The event recalls the beginning of the Farroupilha Revolution that took place on September 20, 1835, the longest revolution in Brazil, which lasted almost ten years and had as its ideals freedom, equality and humanity. During the Farroupilha week, the gauchos set up camps and celebrate, drinking chimarrão and celebrating with parades, shows and pilchards.
