Today is the Day of the Lifeguard Volunteer, in commemoration of the Battle of Solferino, which occurred on June 24, 1859 in northern Italy, which inspired the creation of the International Red Cross Movement. The lifeguards are the ones who provide pre-hospital care in the event of any emergency.
