30 June - Liberal Revolution Day in Guatemala
On June 30, 1871, a revolutionary movement, waving liberal flags, triumphantly entered Guatemala City, ending the conservative government of Vicente Cerna and setting in motion a modernization process that had been delayed for more than a century. On June 30, the rebels reached the capital, while Cerna and his ministers fled to Honduras.
During the liberal governments, between 1871 and 1944, June 30 was the main celebration, after September 15, the date on which independence is commemorated.
