Zoonoses are diseases transmitted directly or indirectly from animals to humans. Zoonotic diseases can be caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi, some of which are very common, such as rabies, brucellosis and tuberculosis.
The WHO designated July 6 as World Zoonoses Day, in commemoration of July 6, 1885, when the French chemist Louis Pasteur, vaccinated for the first time against rabies the child Joseph Meister with great success, saving his life.
The best way to commemorate this date is through prevention and constant care of animal health, because for humans, the main source of zoonoses are domestic and farm animals, which are related to the consumption of food of animal origin.
