13 July - World Rock Day
The main reason for choosing this date was to commemorate the mega rock concert "Live Aid", held on July 13, 1985, which was attended by important rock bands and performers from Europe and the United States to raise funds for the benefit of Somalia and Ethiopia, countries in the African continent that were going through a severe famine crisis.
This event took place in two main venues simultaneously, being organized in the cities of London in England and Philadelphia in the United States. Its main ideologist was the Irish composer Bob Geldof, who founded the organization "Band Aid Trust" to achieve his goal of organizing this event and during its development, bands such as Queen, U2, The Beach Boys, Dire Straits, Reo Speedwagon, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, The Who and performers such as Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, George Michael, Bryan Adams, Kenny Loggins, Eric Clapton, Sting, Phil Collins, David Gilmour, David Bowie, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, among others.
The success of this event went beyond the borders of the places where it took place, which finally led to the declaration, starting the following year, of July 13 as World Rock Day, in honor of the Live Aid event and the large number of artists it generated for purely humanitarian reasons.
