Social Workers Day in Mexico

After the Reniests Annual Meeting in January 2019 agreed to promote August 21 as the Day of Social Workers, due to the importance of their national work, and after a legislative path that went from the Senate of the Republic to the Chamber of Deputies, it was on April 28, 2021 when the Legislative Branch made the historic event official.

Among the arguments put forward in the legislative tribune were that "social workers are the main allies in the fight against poverty and exclusion of the population. Whether in academic scenarios, in institutions and organizations for the promotion of social welfare, social work is present in the search for solutions to the structural problem of inequality.

With this, it is made official that on August 21 of each year, "those who daily contribute to the development and achievement of social justice in Mexico" will be commemorated.
