Patron saint festivities in Spain

A patronal feast is a set of solemnities with which a population -may be neighborhoods, in the case of large cities- annually celebrates the date of its patron saint. In addition, these festivities are representative of each of their cultures. It is a tradition implanted, essentially, in the countries of Hispanic culture. In Spain in the area of this type of celebrations they are usually known as "fiestas mayores".

In some countries they are called popular festivals, although this term may refer to other traditional or popular festivals, such as the volksfeste in Germany.
