Road and Road Education Day in Argentina

The first Pan-American Road Congress was held in the City of Buenos Aires in 1925. The purpose of this meeting was to articulate road and customs policies, where the congress participants agreed to declare October 5 as Road Day, and to promote road education days to raise awareness on the use of public space, roads and respect for the rules of road coexistence.

This day is used to promote road education days in search of a cultural change in which respect for traffic rules and care for life prevails. On the same date in 1932, the Dirección Nacional de Vialidad was created, an agency in charge of road maintenance.

The commemoration date is a reason to promote actions that transcend in time, in relation to the correct use of public space, the roads where we all move. Sharing these basic concepts and keeping active the task of road education in teaching from the beginning of the school cycle, and the understanding of what it means to respect the laws that regulate traffic, benefits us all.
