21 October - Overseas Chinese Day in Taiwan Republic of China
Since the days of the Father and Founder of the Republic, the Overseas Chinese played a role of supreme importance in the founding and life of the Republic of China. Dr. Sun Yat-sen paid tribute to them on several occasions, summarizing those tributes himself in his expression "Overseas Chinese are the Mother of the Revolution". Today, as then, the Chinese communities established abroad continue to give their loyal and generous support to the Republic, and the national calendar includes a HUA CHIAO or Overseas Chinese Day. That Day is celebrated on October 21.
On their return to the country, the Overseas Chinese visit various parts of the island, and to facilitate their accommodation and attention, they are divided into many groups, so that many of them were outside Taipei on their Day. Some who have relatives or friends here, prefer to make their visits privately.
