The International Day of the Magician is celebrated every January 31 to commemorate the death of St. John Bosco, Italian priest and founder of the Salesian order. He dedicated his life to educate needy children in Turin, whom he approached through "magic" games.
He died on January 31, 1888, and was canonized on April 1, 1934. Later, during a magic congress held in Spain, he was chosen as the patron saint of magicians, choosing the date of his death to celebrate this event.
