3 October - Musketeer Day in France
The name "Musketeers" was popularized by the French novelist and playwright Alexandre Dumas in his novel "Les trois mousquetaires", whose central characters were Athos, Porthos and Aramis. Its motto is immortal: "One for all, all for one".
Every October 3, tribute is paid to the French corps of soldiers founded in 1622 by Louis XIII. The International Day of the Musketeer is celebrated.
The Musketeers (mousquetaire in French) were infantrymen who emerged in the sixteenth century, who fought the European armies for two centuries. In the 17th century they were replaced by armed soldiers, who used muzzle-loading rifles.
