The Bremen Music Festival

Many programs and artist constellations can only be experienced exclusively at Musikfest Bremen throughout Germany. Early music is naturally juxtaposed with contemporary music, orchestral music with chamber music, opera with jazz and world music.

Over 40 concerts in more than 20 venues in Bremen, Bremerhaven and the north-west offer top-class performances of exquisite quality that turn popular works and rarities from different eras, genres and cultural spheres into an experience - virtuoso, moving, captivating, up close and personal!

The Bremen Music Festival, founded in 1989 by artistic director Thomas Albert on the initiative of the Bremen Senate and leading partners from the business world as a project to strengthen the cultural appeal of the city, is a festival for the extraordinary.

Since 2001, the festival has opened with the concert evening "Eine große Nachtmusik" in venues around the specially illuminated market square. The central venues for the festival events in Bremen are the concert hall "Die Glocke" and the BLG-Forum Überseestadt; around half of the program is performed in selected venues throughout the northwest (Oldenburg, Jever, Löningen, Cloppenburg, Papenburg, Verden, etc.).
