Typing Day

An annual event organized by the STC - Speed Typing Contest - from JCI - Junior Chamber International - and Team TAC - Typo Auto Corrector to improve the speed, accuracy and efficiency of written communication among the public.

On your keyboard, the longest word that you can type using only the top row is typewriter. Christopher Sholes had designed the QWERTY keyboard that we use today for his typewriter in 1872. The same keyboard design has been used for about 150 years!

The world record for typing the English alphabet from A to Z is 1.36 seconds.

CTRL ALT DEL is a famous shortcut to close a programme on your computer or shut down. This idea came from David Bradley at IBM to avoid accidental shutdown when typing.International.

Today is Typing Day, an annual event observed by Junior Chamber International to spread the benefits of typing quickly, accurately and efficiently.

Typing Day was conceptualized in Malaysia and falls yearly on the 8th of January. It was first celebrated in 2011 and aims to encourage people to express themselves via written communication and also in commemoration of the Malaysian Speed Typing Contest 2011, which broke two records in the Malaysian Book of Records (MBR) i.e. the Fastest Typist and the Largest Participation for a Typing Event.
