28 July - National Tree Planting Day in Australia
This is Australia's largest community tree planting event. It was co-founded by Planet Ark and Olivia Newton-John in 1996, and the event has grown into the biggest community tree-planting and nature protection event in Australia. Few Australians realise that our native forest managers reseed and regenerate areas harvested, and that more than 70 million seedlings are planted each year by our plantation owners. Australia's largest tree planting and nature care event. The program is a call to action for all Australians to get their hands dirty and give back to their community.
Each year, around 300,000 people volunteer their time to engage in environmental activities that educate Australians about the world around them. While every day can be Tree Day, we dedicate celebration of Schools Tree Day and National Tree Day to the last Friday and last Sunday in July.
