Argentine Air Force Day

The origin of the Argentine Air Force can be traced back to the primitive El Palomar Aviation Military School on August 10, 1912; that is to say, that the years elapsed between 1912 and 1945 show with total clarity how military aviation experienced a progressive and sustained evolution until its full maturation and consequent autonomy as the third Armed Force of the Nation. First state body dedicated to the teaching of military flight and, therefore, seed of the Argentine Air Force. By Decree No. 14,204/54 it was established as the Day of the Institution.

Regarding the doubt that usually arises about whether the commemorative date of the Air Force corresponds to January 4 or August 10, it can be said that it comes from confusing the Ministry of Aeronautics with the Air Force. When the first was created, on January 4, 1945, the Argentine Air Force already existed, and what took place on that date constituted a reorganization of already existing elements, a reassignment of responsibilities as an independent Armed Force, in the field of new Secretariat of Aeronautics.
