11 August - Flag Day in Pakistan
In the centre is a white crescent moon and a white five-pointed star, which symbolize progress and light respectively. The flag symbolizes Pakistan's commitment to Islam, the Islamic world, and the rights of religious minorities. It was retained upon the establishment of a constitution in 1956, and remains in use as the national flag for the present-day Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The flag was designed by Amiruddin Kidwai, and is based on the All-India Muslim League flag.
