Steppe Day in Ukraine

The holiday arose on the initiative of the participants of the interregional scientific and practical seminar "Protection of the steppe landscapes of Donetsk and Luhansk regions", which was held on March 1, 2017 in the premises of the Aarhus Information Center. It has an important symbolic meaning for the popularization of the steppes, which the Ukrainian land is rich in. This year marked the 90th anniversary of the creation of the Kamennye Mohyly nature reserve, which is traditionally one of the symbols of steppe protection in Ukraine.

The seminar was made possible thanks to the public organization "ECOMAG", within the framework of the project "Restoration of the steppe landscape with chalk outcrops for the benefit of communities affected during the anti-terrorist operation" with the support of the Small Grants Program of the Global Environment Facility, in the UN Development Program.
