Student's Day is commemorated on September 21 and although it coincides with Spring Day, the real reason for the choice of that date is that on that day in 1888 the repatriated remains of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, who died ten days before, arrived in Buenos Aires. During his presidency he was responsible for the construction of more than 801 schools. On this day, high school students do not attend classes.
Particularly in the province of Jujuy the Fiesta Nacional de los Estudiantes is held, being declared a national holiday and permanent venue for these celebrations, in which queens of all the Argentine provinces are elected. On this day, high school students do not attend classes.
