The Peruvian Librarian's Day is celebrated thanks to the initiative of the General Assembly of the Peruvian Association of Librarians, whose members agreed on August 5, 1985 to establish November 14 as the commemoration day.
The Peruvian Librarian's Day was legalized in 1967, during the first government of Fernando Belaunde Terry. In the 1990's the Peruvian Association of Librarians was created and since 2008 there is a law of professional practice in librarianship and information sciences.
This celebration was made official in 1968 during the first government of Fernando Belaunde Terry and is celebrated every November 14 (Law N°16801).
