Welcome to the Würzburg Kiliani folk festival, which is dedicated to St. Kilian, an Irish bishop and patron saint of the city. His name day on July 8 is celebrated with this spectacular folk festival, which dates back to a medieval sales fair and is therefore also known as the "Mess". The Kiliani folk festival lasts for two weeks from the beginning to the middle of July and takes place on the impressive Talavera Square - the largest folk festival in Lower Franconia.
On the first Saturday, a traditional costume parade through the city center leads to the festival site. There, visitors can expect a huge marquee as well as numerous food stalls and fairground rides. At the same time, the Kiliani sales fair, also known as the "Häfelesmess", takes place on the market square, where everyday necessities are on sale. Every year, up to one million visitors flock to the Kiliani folk festival to experience tradition, festivity and an unforgettable time together.
