The Freienfelser Ritterspiele is one of the oldest and largest medieval events in the whole of Germany. Every year, thousands of actors and tens of thousands of enthusiastic visitors gather in Freienfels on over 130,000 square meters of event space. Always held on the weekend of Ascension Day, the Freienfels Knights' Games offer, among other things, Hessen's largest knights' tournament and many attractions for children.
The event was founded in 1992.
Always held on the first weekend in May, the Freienfels Knights' Games have developed into one of the most respected representations of medieval life over the last two and a half decades. Life and camp, crafts and trade, food and drink, martial arts and jugglery are presented in a period ranging from the Migration Period to the High Middle Ages.
