Traditionally at Whitsun, the Georgengarten around the Leibniz Temple is transformed into a paradise for all lovers of gardens, plants and beautiful things. The Georgengarten is a landscaped garden in the north-western district of Herrenhausen in the German city of Hanover. It is part of the Herrenhausen Gardens.
Around 1700, estates were laid out for several noblemen in the former floodplain of the River Leine. In 1726, the Herrenhäuser Allee was laid out, connecting Hanover with the royal palace and the Herrenhausen Gardens in the city districts; it is almost exactly one geographical mile long and consists of four rows of lime trees.
In the middle of the early summer Georgengarten, the garden festival attracts visitors with flowers and perennials, beautiful things for the garden and delicious treats. Over 130 carefully selected exhibitors transform the grounds into a sea of bright colors, fragrant blossoms, art and culinary delights. They present a variety of plant rarities, herbs, outdoor furniture, art objects, garden and home accessories. The perfect opportunity to get summery ideas for your garden at home. The garden festival is rounded off by an appealing supporting program: musical accompaniment, a walking act and children's entertainment make the Georgengarten an excursion destination for the whole family.
