18 September - Franconian Folk Festival in Crailsheim
The Franconian Folk Festival in Crailsheim is one of the highlights of the town's year and is also the largest folk and local festival in the Hohenlohe-Franconia region.
The origins of the festival date back to 1840, when the “patriotic double festival” was held throughout Württemberg to celebrate the 60th birthday and 25th anniversary of King Wilhelm's accession to the throne. In the years that followed, this festival developed into the District Agricultural Festival, which was organized by the District Agricultural Association in the early decades. Since 1901, it has been organized as a Franconian folk festival by the Crailsheim town council.
The colorful parade is organized every year by the agricultural sector, trade & commerce and schools and is accompanied by various bands. The folk festival takes place over four days in September and attracts over 400,000 visitors every year.
