Schützenfest in Neuss-Furth

The Schützenfest in Neuss-Furth is a traditional and important cultural event in Neuss. It is organized by the St. Sebastianus Schützenbruderschaft Neuss-Furth, which has been in existence since 1932. The festival takes place every year at Whitsun and attracts numerous visitors from the region and beyond.

Historically, the Schützenfest has its roots in the ecclesiastical and political circumstances of the region. As early as 1865, the first efforts were made to establish marksmanship in Furth with the shooting of kings and the founding of clubs. In 1874, the first unified shooting festival was announced. After a lengthy interruption, the festival was resumed in 1902 and has since become an integral part of local tradition.

The Schützenfest is known for its festive atmosphere, traditional parades and the community it fosters. It is a bonding agent for the different localities of the parish and provides a platform for cultural exchange and celebration.
