World Cat Day, International Cat Day (Italian: Giornata mondiale del gatto) - a holiday celebrated on February 17, such as in Italy (since 1990) and Poland (since 2006). It is to emphasize the importance of cats in human life, to help free-roaming and homeless animals that once had a home but lost it, and to sensitize people to the often difficult feline fate.
In Poland, it was celebrated for the first time in 2006 on the initiative of the monthly magazine "Cat" and Cat Club Lodz.
Cat Day on February 17 was celebrated for the first time in 1990 in Italy. Its initiator was the cat-loving Italian journalist Claudia Angeletti.
