Francisco Ignacio Madero González launched, on October 5, 1910, the San Luis Plan, which rejected re-election and called for the dictator's overthrow. The Mexican people showed faithful support for Madero's call, launching into armed struggle on November 20, 1910.
What the nation demanded were essential democratic and social principles, such as equality, justice, equity and freedom for a people that suffered too many abuses during the thirty years of dictatorship. Among the groups that joined the struggle were peasants who demanded their right to own land, workers who demanded social justice and the middle classes who asked for political freedom.
