Pampanga also has colorful festivities that reflect its rich culture and unique native traditions. Kapampangans are proud of who they are and these festivals are proof of their happy home living. Each province has their own distinct festival.
The late President Ferdinand Marcos, through Proclamation 2226, declared December 11, 1982 and every year thereafter as "Aldo Ning Kapampangan," a special non-working holiday in the province’s 19 towns and the component cities of San Fernando and Mabalacat, excluding highly urbanized Angeles City, which is politically independent of Pampanga as a chartered city founded on January 1, 1964 under Republic Act 3700.
The commemoration was first declared an official non-working holiday during the incumbency of Governor Estelito Mendoza, who also commissioned the composition of an official Pampanga hymn sung during official functions of the provincial government up to the present.
Pineda has ever since emphasized the importance of Pampanga Day as she wants every Kapampangan to join in the commemoration of the founding anniversary of Pampanga, it being the oldest province in the country.
