Trains are an excellent way to travel, especially if you want to get where you’re going fast but still want to have room to move around, and to watch the scenery go by out the window. Richard Trevithick was a mining engineer and one of the first people to use steam to power a moving locomotive engine.
The London Underground was the world’s first underground railroad. It opened in 1863 to help ease London’s busy roads of buses and trams. Many ‘Ghost Trains’ run on the British Rail Network. In Japan, trains are so punctual that any delay over 5 minutes usually incurs an apology and a “delay certificate” for passengers on their way to work. It is possible to travel from Portugal to Vietnam solely by train. In parts of Cambodia people have made their own trains out of bamboo after regular services stopped running.
