The Mona Lisa has her own mailbox in the Louvre because of all the love letters she receives.
Drawing is a way of making a picture. Drawings are created by making lines on a surface. Long lines make up the shapes and small lines make the textures. Drawings can be images of real life or abstract images showing ideas cannot be seen in the real world. Art used to be an Olympic event.
The earliest engravings known are on pieces of shell from Trinil, Java, dated to around 540,000 years ago, well before modern humans evolved, and presumably made by Homo erectus (nature.com). Other ancient engravings have been found around the world; all are extremely simple: just lines, sometimes cross-hatched.
Sketching and drawing is a great way to improve your creative skills and start thinking in a different way. Art shows you that there is normally more than one way to solve a problem. Art encourages open minded thinking and creativity. These can be really helpful for personal development and solving problems.
