Vallenato Legend Festival in Colombia

The Vallenato festival is identified as one of the most recognized festivities today, folk music and various types of cultural acts are presented. The Festival of the Vallenata Legend, also called the Vallenato Festival, is the most important event of the Vallenato. It is celebrated annually at the end of April or beginning of May since 1968 in Valledupar, Colombia and is organized by the Fundación Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata, which watches over the defense and dissemination of folkloric and popular expressions that surround Vallenata music. The festival seeks to preserve the four airs or rhythms of vallenato: paseo, merengue, son and puya. In addition, the genre of piqueria, parranda, peasant poetry, stories, legends, myths, oral tradition, literary expressions, sociocultural and artistic associated with vallenato.
