Passes from the fifth to the ninth day of the fourth lunar month. Every year, in a tradition dating back to the 17th century, the people of Cheung Chau make fancy papier-mâché, costumes, bake buns, and build a bamboo tower to exorcise the evil spirits that carry the plague.
