Every June 3rd is celebrated the Day of the Italian Immigrant in Argentina because of the birth of Manuel Belgrano, Argentinean hero and creator of the flag. Belgrano, born on June 3, 1770 in Buenos Aires, was the son of Don Domenico Belgrano y Peri, a native of Genoa, Italy.
The Argentine Government enacted Law 24.561 in 1995, which establishes that every June 3 is celebrated as the Italian Immigrant's Day (Día del Inmigrante Italiano).
Italian immigration has marked and left its mark on Argentine culture, language, customs, gastronomy, music are some of the areas in which it left its mark. Therefore, the Italian Immigrant's Day is a tribute to those who came to the country in search of a future and who have made their contribution to the Argentine people.
