The teacher contributes greatly to the development of a country by ensuring the transmission of knowledge, being one of the noblest tasks of human beings and plays an important role in society.
The Nicaraguan teacher's day celebrated on June 29th, remembers Master Emmanuel Mongalo y Rubio who played a fundamental role during the first battle of Rivas, on June 29th, 1855, date for which this festivity was chosen.
In the first battle of Rivas against the hosts of William Walker, Master Mongalo y Rubio volunteered and ran with a lighted torch to the house of Máximo Espinoza, where these adventurers were sheltered, causing a fire that provoked the defeat of the enemy. After these events, he began to teach in Granada, where he died on February 1, 1872.
