The Ministry of Health is working on several aspects, one of them is the launching of the new Bolivian health system led by professionals, medical associations and other organizations.
On September 21, the Bolivian Physician's Day is celebrated in commemoration of the sacrificed work they perform in the fulfillment of their mission, relieving human pain.
In Bolivia, until 1967 the "Day of the Doctor" was commemorated on December 3, but it was in the second Bolivian Medical Congress of the then Bolivian Medical Union Confederation of Bolivia (Comsib), held in the city of Cochabamba on September 14, 1966, when Dr. José María Alvarado presented a project proposing September 21st as "Bolivian Doctor's Day", under the argument that the ceremonies and rites that were celebrated in the Tahuantinsuyo during the spring equinox called La Citua in remembrance of this millenary practice of ancestors.
