On January 26th is celebrated the World Environmental Education Day, which has as its main objective to identify environmental problems both globally and locally and to create awareness in people and especially in governments regarding the need to participate in the conservation and protection of the environment.
This date originated from the Declaration of the United Nations Conference on the Environment held in Stockholm, Sweden, in June 1972, in which the importance of caring for the environment was discussed and the need for common principles that would offer society an inspiration and guide to preserve and improve our environment was exposed. Subsequent international conferences (Belgrade, 1975; Tbilisi, 1977; Rio de Janeiro 1992, Earth Summit; Guadalajara 1997, II Ibero-American Congress on Environmental Education) corroborated the importance of education.
It is important to be aware of the environmental damages suffered by our planet and how to reverse them, in order to avoid Climate Change, the extinction of flora and fauna species..., and other phenomena that affect ecosystems.
