Welcome to the Nördlinger Mess - a festival whose origins date back to 1219! Originally known as an important fair in the Middle Ages on trade routes to Ulm, Augsburg, Nuremberg, Würzburg and Strasbourg, Nördlingen has lost its role as a trading center over time and the fair has developed into a lively folk festival.
Today, the Nördlinger Mess is the largest festival in northern Swabia and takes place on the Kaiserwiese, with marquees, beer gardens, fairground rides and funfair stalls. The market stalls are reminiscent of its roots as a trade festival. The Nördlinger Mess begins on the second Saturday after Whitsun and lasts for ten days, although it does not end on a Sunday, but rather on the traditional Lord's Monday. In the past, the councillors used this day for a visit to the fair, and today it is a fixed public holiday in Nördlingen. Immerse yourself in the lively tradition and festive feeling of the Nördlinger Mess!
