Abdal Musa, also known as Abdal Musa Sultan, was a dervish of the 13th/14th century. He came from the town of Choy in Iran and is an important saint (Abdāl) in the teachings of the Alevis. According to a poem attributed to him, his family originally came from Khorasan. He was a disciple of Hacı Bektaş Veli and played an important role in the restructuring of Alevi knowledge and prayer rituals.
Every year on the first weekend in June, the generosity (cömertlik) of Abdal Musa is commemorated and celebrated in the village of Tekke near Elmalı/Antalya. Abdal Musa was a student of Hacı Bektaş Veli and came from the city of Khoy in Iran. Even today, "edep ve erkan" (roughly: "decency and dignity") is attributed to Abdal Musa. He was also involved in the formation of the Janissary troops (Turkish: Yeniçeri).
