The Hanover International A Cappella Week (Internationale A-cappella-Woche) is an annual concert week for polyphonic singing that takes place in and around Hanover in spring. The idea for the Hanover International A Cappella Week came from the singers of the quintet Modell Andante, whose virtuosos had emerged from the Hanover Boys' Choir. The five presented their suggestion to their boys' choir friend Roger Cericius who, together with Sandra van de Loo from the CESA Events agency, organized the first festival week in 2001
Vocal ensembles from a wide range of countries perform a variety of styles such as classical music, jazz, early music, contemporary pop and nostalgic pop songs at different venues.
The festival organizers are proud that the festival audibly moves the choral scene in Hanover and the region. Guest artists inspire the songs, arrangements and repertoire of local choirs. What's more, workshops, master classes and open singing events are part of the festival every year.
