The Filmnächte am Elbufer is Germany's largest open-air cinema festival and a unique cinema and concert experience in the heart of Dresden. They have been held every summer on the banks of the Neustädter Elbufer in Dresden since 1991 and have attracted over 270,000 spectators in recent years. Around 3,600 visitors a day can watch film screenings in summer on the Elbe meadows directly opposite Dresden's historic old town.
The world's largest mobile cinema screen with a projection area of 448 square meters has been in use since 2004.
