Kiel's sea of lights: a sparkling spectacle in the fjord city.

The Kiel Sea of Lights is a fascinating event that lights up the dark season in Kiel with a sea of lights. Food trucks and a hands-on circus will also be there. Sunday is open for business.

The Kieler Lichtermeer took place for the first time in 2018. The idea for the event came from Kiel's city marketing department, which wanted to liven up the city center during the dark season and attract visitors. The concept proved to be a complete success and the sea of lights quickly developed into a popular event in Kiel.

Visitor numbers: In 2023, around 57,000 people visited the Kieler Lichtermeer and were enthralled by the light shows and walking acts. Program: Activities included storytelling, candle drawing, a hands-on circus for children and a colourful range of food stalls and products. The stores in Kiel opened their doors on Sunday for an extensive shopping tour under the motto "I feel Kiel".

Walking acts and live music: Walking acts, street artists and live musicians provided entertainment at various locations in the city center.
