The Erfurt Wine Festival is an event rich in tradition that celebrates the good drop - the oldest cultural drink of mankind.
In the Middle Ages, a lot of wine was actually grown in Erfurt and the city was surrounded by vineyards. A document from 1121 provides the oldest evidence of wine growing. Nowadays, the people of Erfurt are still devoted to wine, and the wine festival offers the ideal opportunity to enjoy good music and delicious wine.
It has been widely sung about, described in poems, novels and proverbs and has become an integral part of our culture. That is why the Thuringian capital dedicates its own event to the "good drop", the oldest cultural drink of mankind - the "Erfurt Wine Festival". First presented in 1993, it has long since made a name for itself among wine lovers and connoisseurs.
Art and creative market: On Saturday and Sunday, the wine festival is framed by the art and creative market. Artists, craftspeople and hobby artists present their stalls in the picturesque ambience of Erfurt's old town.
