The Hohentwielfestival is an annual music festival that has been held in Singen, Germany, for almost five decades. It is a venue where top national and international stars perform in front of the medieval castle ruins. The Hohentwielfestival was launched in 1969 and is one of the oldest open-air festivals in southern Germany. Originally started as a town festival for the citizens of Singen, it has developed into a renowned jazz festival over the years.
International stars such as Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie have performed at the festival in the past. The festival has attracted an impressive list of artists, including B.B. King, Joe Cocker, Chris de Burgh, Patricia Kaas, Nena and Silbermond.
The Hohentwiel Festival takes place at the Hohentwiel fortress ruins, which are located on the former Hegau volcano. The backdrop offers a breathtaking view of the hilly landscape of the Hegau, Lake Constance and the Alpine panorama of the neighboring countries.
