The Peiner Freischiessen is a folk festival that takes place annually in Peine, Lower Saxony. It always takes place on the first weekend in July. At regular competitions, crossbows and bows and arrows were used to shoot at targets and replica animals.
The Freischiessen is a special kind of festival that brings people of all ages together to experience a time of joy and enthusiasm. Several corporations play an important role and preserve the idea and cultural heritage of the Peiner Freischiessen: the Shooting Guild, the Citizen Hunter and the New Citizen. The parades of the corporations offer an impressive sight that many visitors will remember for a long time.
Special features: There is lots of music, rides for young and old and numerous stalls with culinary delights on the Peiner Schützenplatz. Marching bands and bands provide musical fireworks. They say that you can't explain free shooting, you have to experience it.
